Notre Dame Campus
National Medjugorje Conference
The Notre Dame campus provides a wonderful setting for the conference
retreat weekend. It is pedestrian friendly with very limited vehicle access.
The campus grounds are beautifully landscaped with colorful arrays of
flowers everywhere, making it a great place for a peaceful leisurely walk. When you get tired, there are sturdy
benches along the walkways where you can rest.
the center of campus is the Administration Building with its famous
golden dome and the statue of Our Lady on top. It is one of the most recognized
Catholic landmarks in America.
Next to the dome is the beautiful 150-year-old Sacred Heart Basilica,
which was completely refurbished several years ago. The breathtaking beauty
of the Basilica has made it one of the most visited sites in the state
Down the steps from the Basilica is the Lourdes Grotto with hundreds
of lighted candles and people kneeling in prayer at all times of the day
The north part of the campus is surrounded by two lakes - St. Mary's
and St. Joseph's. There is a walking path that forms a figure-eight around
the lakes providing open panoramic views of the campus.
Notre Dame Stadium - "the house that Rockne built"
- is also a very popular site on campus. In the fall, over 80,000 fans
fill the stadium on Saturday afternoons to root for the Fighting Irish.
The stadium is across the street from the conference arena.
A map and index are part of the conference program booklet and are helpful
guides for the many other points of interest on the campus.
