Highlight Events of the
National Medjugorje Conference
There are many opportunies for prayer and reflection at the Medjugorje
Conference. Here are a few of them:
Candlelight
Procession to Grotto
The candlelight procession to the grotto takes place after the opening
session on Friday night. It starts at 8:00 pm. The Blessed Sacrament is
at the head of the procession in a beautiful monstrance and under a canopy.
The route to the grotto is lined with luminarias and goes diagonally across
campus - past the Golden Dome and historic Sacred Heart Basilica to the
famous Lourdes Grotto which is located near the shore-line of St. Mary's
Lake.
Each year thousands participate in the candle-light procession which
makes for quite a beautiful and inspiring site to witness. The Holy Rosary
is recited on the way to the Grotto and the procession ends there with
benediction.
The procession route covers approximately .9 mile one way. so by the
time you return to your car, you will have walked close to 2 miles.
For those who are not able to participate in the procession, the Rosary
is recited in the conference arena.

Eucharistic
Adoration
A beautiful adoration chapel is set up in the auxillary gym on the upper
level of the arena. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed following the volunteer
Mass at 12 noon on Friday afternoon and remains exposed during all the
hours of the conference. So Jesus is being adored all throughout the weekend.
There is also Eucharistic adoration at the close of the Saturday evening
session in the main arena. After the recitation of the glorious mysteries
of the Rosary, Fr. Daryl Rybicki carries the Blessed Sacrament out among
the people while the choir and orchestra play beautiful Eucharistic hymns.
It is very beautiful and powerful - Jesus walking among us.

Holy Mass
There are two Masses on the conference weekend - one on
Saturday morning, then the closing Mass at 1:00pm on Sunday.
There are usually a large number of priests concelebrating
and deacons assisting at the Masses. All priests and deacons are invited
to participate but must bring their own stoles and albs.
Our Lady said at Medjugorje that we should make Holy Mass
the center of our lives. So the Mass liturgies are the highest priority
for the conference. Every effort is made so that it will be a holy and
uplifting experience of Christ's Presence for all who participate.
Crowning
of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The final event of the conference is the crowning of Our
Lady following the Sunday Mass. She is then carried in procession around
the arena as the music ministry accompanies her on "the walk" with the
beautiful traditional Marian hymns -a poignant way to end the conference
retreat weekend.
Queen of Peace Ministries sponsors the National Medjugorje Conference
at Notre Dame each year, and throughout the year spreads Our Lady's message
via television and print publications. In the South Bend area, visitors
are welcome to attend monthly Mass and other events.
